On June 21st, 2018, the Department of Human Excellence and Nehru Yuva Kendra jointly organized the 4th International Day of Yoga at Dr. N. Arutselvar Arangam, Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam College, Pollachi. Ms. S. Jeyalakshmi, HOD of the Department of Human Excellence, delivered the welcome address.
The principal, Dr. P. M. Palanisamy of NGM College, Pollachi, provided an introductory address. In his speech, the principal emphasized the importance of the eight limbs of yoga practices, including various types of asanas and their benefits. President Dr. B. K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar honored the students who performed various challenging asanas on the occasion. Furthermore, the president highlighted that yoga practices are not only about flexing our muscles; they also represent an inner journey that supports the bridging of professional excellence with human excellence.
The Chief Guest, Thiru V. Velmurugan, Additional Director and District Coordinator for the Youth Association, delivered a special address and stressed the importance of spreading awareness about the various types of yoga practices and their benefits among younger generations to create a brighter future. Finally, More than 300 hundred students from various departments performed different types Yogasana practices. Overall, 500 participants from various departments, including heads, professors, and students, participated and benefited from this program.
