We, Department of English had organized an Industrial visit on 13.10.2023, to The Hindu Press located at Singanallur, Coimbatore for 55 Students of English Literature (III Year). Head of the Department of English (Dr. S. Muthukumaravel) organized the visit, as it becomes a part of the course Paper: Journalism and Mass Communication. Dr. Suja Matthew and Dr. M. Sangeetha were the coordinators for the Industrial visit and we reached the press at 2.30 pm.

The Industrial Visit was very helpful for the students to learn how the printing is being done and the newspapers are stacked. The students learnt how the paper passed from one machine to another, how various colours were integrated and 50,000 copies were printed and delivered per hour. The editions were The Hindu, The Indian Express, Tamil Newspapers and their associated supplements and magazines.

The printing process is totally automated on the paper is not touched by human hands during the entire process. The industrial visit proved a great learning experiences for the students as the witnessed the making of the newspaper that forms a significant part of their daily life.
